Hello everyone!
We’re continuing the tradition from January of giving a broad overview of some of my favorite writings that you might have missed before diving into the raunchy subscriber-only portion of the blog.
Here at A Moment with Mumma, we went a bit dark. The main focuses were institutional decay, controlled opposition and cabals, cancer, and the fear-driven madness of Covid.
Now that I say that, shit, that really is dark.
But honestly, I’ve got a cheery disposition about it all, I swear! But this is the kind of stuff we have to talk about if we want to better our path and humanity’s outcomes 10, 20, 50 years down the road. So, sorry but not sorry, I suppose. If you had to check out one piece, go with A Controlled Opposition:
It sounds a little conspiratorial, but gives a sense of where we really are with our political institutions.
But on to cheerier subjects!
The Book of Principles had four posts (chapters?), focused on Chesterton’s Fence, Culture, and Decentralization. These are pretty critical concepts to understand. As I note there, culture is becoming a predominant force thanks to how the internet has turbocharged how quickly cultural memes can spread. Every action we take or want to take needs to account for this reality. Check out more here (each one is pretty quick):
On the business-related side of the house, Bizlandia has started two series: one on lessons in entrepreneurship and one on translating Data Science into English. Both topics are things that I am passionate about and have a fair bit of experience in, so if you are interested please check them out!
And last but not least on the productivity front, we covered how to combat phone addiction, experiences with meal prepping, and the broader societal trend toward distraction. If you had to pick one, go with the age of distraction as it has broader implications that tie back to, you guessed it, culture!
Last but not least, today is the last day to join the premium crew at an insanely discounted rate: $10/year annually (after today, it will return to the still-reasonable price of $30/year). For that, you support my work like all the stuff you just read, and get even more unfiltered commentary like what is hidden below railing on [redacted]. And you’ll have my eternal gratitude and all that good stuff. Anyway, if you can, please sign up:
And with that, on to the subscriber only portion:
